Thank you for all of your help pulling off the surprise "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Party"! The donations and volunteer help really made this party fantastic for our class! I appreciate all of the time spent shopping for treats, creating and volunteering! Your support really make a difference to me as a teacher!
As we come into the end of the school year, please continue to encourage your child to read and practice their spelling words and flash cards every night. It is very important to stay consistent with homework even as we wrap up the school year in order to prepare for 4th grade. Thank you for your support with this!
Please look for information about the Park Elementary Summer Reading Program coming soon! Once a week this summer our school library will be open for book checkouts; along with free books and snacks! Students will earn a free book EVERY WEEK they attend! Wow! Be sure to plan on joining us this summer.

Curriculum Updates
Writing- We will be wrapping up our Opinion pieces with a Writing Celebration tomorrow! Then will move into creating posters and speeches for our Wax Museum during Writing Workshop.
Math- We jumped into Math Workshop once again with our very last unit; 2 step story problems! The students are doing well getting back into the routine of Math now that M-Step is finished and I am so proud of their efforts!
Science- We are wrapping up our unit in Recycling with our Opinion Essays in Writing. Next we will move into our last Science Unit; Earth Changes. We will learn about erosion, weathering, sand, fossils, rocks and minerals.
Social Studies- The students learned about some of the struggles of our country during the Civil War and why people began moving to Michigan. We learned about the Underground Railroad and its role in Michigan's history, along with the settling of pioneers in West Michigan.
Reading-We are currently using our notes on the Early Life, Later Life, Accomplishments and Time Line of our historical figures to draft our non-fiction writing for our wax museum posters. I will continue to model this type of writing using the book Who Was Walt Disney?
