We jump right into our week with working on our final project of the school year...the Wax Museum! I look forward to seeing you there on May 31!
Questions to ask your child about 3rd grade this past week:
*What is the capital of Indiana, Washington and Hawaii? Think of the Tour the States song!
*What do you predict Georgina will do in the book "How to Steal a Dog?"
*How can you be a leader in your neighborhood or sport's team?
*What is an important strategy to solve two step word problems? (ask yourself the first step question!)
Please write a note in your child's agenda noting that you asked them these questions and they can earn an extra Michigan Dollar!
Curriculum Updates
Writing: We are currently finishing our drafting and starting work on our Wax Museum posters. The students are so proud of their hard work on this project!
Math: We will continue to work on two step word problems this week and will be tested over them on Friday! Students are also grouped according to concepts that they need extra practice in for some review.
Your child may also be pulled in a small group for a few minutes in the morning with me. I am working on those tricky concepts from the last few units. I will be retesting all standards before the end of the school year!
Social Studies: We will continue our study about Government with discussions about the level of government as well as the branches of government. Our main focus is on Michigan government.
Reading Workshop: The students will be working on researching another animal within a small group this week. We are working hard on being independent with researching and looking for quality information!
Please encourage your child to read one book at school and at home. It is important that they take the same book back and forth from school to home each day. We want to work on building comprehension by reading a book all the way through before starting another one!
