We have been working hard in 3rd grade! We are into the part of the school year when expectations are continually being raised and I am proud of the many wonderful things happening in our classroom!
Thank you for your continued support of your child and our classroom!
Have a great week,
Mrs. Haagsma
Questions to ask your child about 3rd grade this week

Curriculum Updates
Writing: We created a character, setting, problem and solution for our Realistic Fiction Narratives. Then we developed these into plans and are now drafting these into Small Moment stories. I love the creativity of these stories!
Social Studies: We are currently working on skits and short stories to show our knowledge of how Native Americans and the fur traders helped to develop Michigan.
Math: We will be wrapping up our unit on Shapes, Perimeter and Area this week with a test on Thursday. We will spend this week reviewing!
Reading Workshop: Our focus continues to be finding the Main Idea of a text. Main Idea can be defined as the most important point or purpose of the text. This concepts will help with summarizing and retelling skills as well!
MobyMax and Study Island: These are two great learning sites that Park students have access to (Thank you Parents' Club!) We spend time each week extending and practicing our skills in the subjects of Math and Reading on these sites. Computer skills are an essential part of our learning!
Epic! is another site that your child may want to explore. This is a wonderful site full of over 20,000 books. Your child can get on for free Monday-Friday during school hours. This is perfect for a Snow Day or during our breaks.
