Curriculum Updates
Writing- I am so impressed with the wonderful Realistic Fiction stories my class is creating! The use of dialogue, setting, and character development is wonderful!
Math- We jumped into a new unit on Geometry last week. This unit covers Shapes, Perimeter and Area. Your child should be able to describe terms such as: a right angle, parallel lines, a quadrilateral, a square, a rectangle and rhombuses. Next we will move into solving perimeter and area story problems.
Social Studies-The students are right in the middle of an exciting group project called Economics Marketplace. The students learned about loans, purchasing supplies, sticking to a budget, creating a product and producing the product. They are currently working on creating a store front for their business and deciding on a price of their product. They will sell their items this week to all three third graders!
Reading- We will be moving into a new unit in reading this week called Book Clubs. This unit involves working with a small group of peers to read and discuss a chapter book together. I know this unit will be exciting for students and I look forward to hearing their wonderful discussions!
