We had an exciting week with our Valentine's Day Party and Jump Rope for Heart! Thank you for your support with this charity, our school raised over $9,000! Wow! This is a new school record for Park Elementary.
Please be sure to ask your child why all of our class wore their shirts backwards last week! I love the sense of community they build!
Have a great week,
Mrs. Haagsma

- How do you think you make Mrs. Haagsma proud last week?
- Can you tell me about what you did with your kinder buddy?

Curriculum Updates
Writing- We continued our craft of planning out Realistic Fiction stories last week. The students began developing their main characters and outlining a plan for their rough draft.
Math- We wrapped up our unit on 3 digit addition, subtraction and rounding last week. I was so impressed with our test scores; please look for these in your child's mail this week. Our next unit is geometry, perimeter and area.
Social Studies-Last week students worked with a partner to read our Michigan Social Studies weekly and learned how scarcity, opportunity cost and choice affect Michigan businesses. The week ended with reading Arthur's Pet Business and discussing what is needed to start a business.
Reading- We will be moving into a new unit in reading this week called Book Clubs. This unit involves working with a small group of peers to read and discuss a chapter book together. I know this unit will be exciting for students and I look forward to hearing their wonderful discussions!
