Our update is coming mid-week this week due to being out on a trip this past weekend. I received a wonderful report from our sub, Mrs. Coeling! I greatly appreciate my students' hard work and wonderful behavior while I was gone! Awesome job! I am looking forward to a fun rest of the week with my students.
Questions to ask your child about 3rd grade this week
- What new item did you receive from Mr. Bowman? What will you be using it for in Music?
- Can you share your favorite part your time with Mrs. Coeling?
- Can you share 3 facts you learned about Martin Luther King Jr. last week?
- What was the cure for the "Picky Eater" in Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's book?
Curriculum Updates
Writing: We spent Writing Workshop last week wrapping up our Animal Research chapters on Diet, Animal Babies, and Fun Facts. We will spend this week editing and revising.
Social Studies: We jumped into Michigan History last week! We began by learning about some of the first people who lived in Michigan-The Hopewell. We also learned about how people would trade to gain the items that they needed or wanted.
Math: We spent the last few days in Math reviewing time, measurement, graphs, capacity and words problems. We will be testing this Wednesday and Thursday on these concepts.
Reading Workshop: Our focus last week was finding the Main Idea of a text. Main Idea can be defined as the most important point or purpose of the text. We worked on finding the Main Idea of non-fiction texts on MLK Jr., Bees and Thunderstorms. This concepts will help with summarizing and retelling skills as well!
MobyMax and Study Island: These are two great learning sites that Park students have access to (Thank you Parents' Club!) We spend time each week extending and practicing our skills in the subjects of Math and Reading on these sites. Computer skills are an essential part of our learning!
