We have a few busy weeks ahead of us in 3rd grade! On Tuesday, we will be shopping for Holiday Hope at Target. If you would still like to help donate to our adopted family, you are welcome to join us! I will meet everyone in the lobby of Target and you will receive a card with information about the child you are shopping for. Thank you for helping this family to have a special Christmas!
Have a wonderful week!

Curriculum Updates
Writing: We wrapped up our Opinion (or Personal Essay) pieces last week with a Writing Celebration on Thursday. The students worked hard and I enjoyed watching them learn and grow this last unit!
Our next unit combines Reading, Science and Writing as we learn about animal adaptations, classification and traits. This unit is an Informational Research unit and the students will be choosing an animal to research and will be creating an informational book about their animal.
Social Studies: We learned about the role local government plays and about our representative government this past week in Social Studies.
Math: Our Unit 2 test was given last week. This test covered one and two step story problems, multiplying by multiples of 10 and using multiplication and division strategies. These tests will go home on Monday. Please look over these with your child.
Our next unit will cover telling time, elapsed time, measurement to the nearest 1/4 inch and other units of measurement.
Reading Workshop: During Reading Workshop over the course of the next few weeks, we will learn about the text features in informational books and the importance of those features. We will also choose an animal to begin researching for Writing.
