We are entering our last week before Christmas break! Many fun and exciting things are happening in our room this week. We are going to be learning about Christmas Around the World, having a PJ/Movie Party on Thursday and celebrating with some surprising on Friday.
Have a wonderful week!
Questions to ask your child about 3rd grade this week

- Can you share three interesting facts you learned about your animal?
- What is Epic? How are you using in class?
Curriculum Updates
Writing: We spent Writing Workshop this week researching for three of our chapters in our Informational Research Books. Habitat, Diet and Adaptations were our focus!
Our new unit combines Reading, Science and Writing as we learn about animal adaptations, classification and traits. This unit is an Informational Research unit and the students will be choosing an animal to research and will be creating an informational book about their animal.
Social Studies: We continued learning about the Three Branches of Government last week. We dove deeper into the roles that they play in our communities. The students loved "taking on the role of a judge" as they interpret the laws.
Math: We covered elapsed time during the past week. This is a very tricky topic for 3rd graders. We took a quiz last week and I allowed the students fix up their mistakes the following day. This quiz will come home this week with corrections made in red. We will continue to practice elapsed time this unit!
Reading Workshop: We continued learning about the text features in informational books and the importance of those features with helping us to learn.
