Our week will include Parent/Teacher conferences on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your child's progress!
Have a wonderful week!
Questions to ask your child about 3rd grade this week
- What is a goal you would like to work on with behavior?
- What is a natural resource used in the production of a car?
- Who is Henry Ford? What did you learn about him in Social Studies?
Curriculum Updates
Writing: Students will work to begin drafting their Persuasive Essays this week. They will form a thesis and have 3 reasons of support to defend their thesis.
Math: Solving word problems involving Area will continue to be our focus in Math this week.
***Please encourage your child to practice memorizing their flashcards. It is essential that they have their facts memorized each week for their flashcard test on Fridays. They will have one minute to answer 20 questions so they must be fluent with their facts. Each time they past a set of facts; they will add another set. For example: the first test will cover just x5 facts, but the next test will cover Division 5s, then x5 and x 2 facts, etc...Please let me know if you have questions about our flashcards!
Social Studies: This week, we are learning about Economics and how Michigan's natural resources can be used in the production of goods.
Reading Workshop: Our new reading unit is an exciting one...MYSTERIES! Your child may have begun reading a new mystery book or may start one this week once they finish their current book. This unit is sure to be a favorite among 3rd graders!
*Please encourage your child to read one book at school and at home. It is important that they take the same book back and forth from school to home each day. We want to work on building comprehension by reading a book all the way through before starting another one!
