We had an exciting week this past week! Our field trip to ArtPrize was the highlight, with many interesting things to see and do! I'm looking forward to another great week!
Questions to ask your child about 3rd Grade:
- What is a Grabber Lead? Have them show you:)
- What is the heart of a story? Why is it important to a personal narrative?
- Explain what Math Workshop is...What is the name of your group? What is difficult about Math Workshop? Give me an example of "Math Talk".
- What type of plant are you creating? What are its adaptations?
- Tell me about Edward Tulane's journey? Who is your favorite character?
- What is MobyMax? What is the contest for this month?
- How much Michigan money do you have? Are you saving for something?
- Tell me something that you think I would be proud of you for.
Curriculum Updates
Writing- The students learned about "Grabber Leads" and the "heart" of our stories and we began drafting our Personal Narratives.
Math- We jumped into an exciting new system in Math called Math Workshop last week. It was a learning experience for the students; as workshop requires more independence and responsibility. We will continue to work towards perfecting our routine and rotations during this time of the day!
Science- We continued our study on plants and their adaptations. Ask your child about the plant that they are creating! They are using real life adaptations to create a make-believe plant that can survive in a specific habitat.
Reading- Our current read aloud,The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, is an amazing story about the journey a china rabbit takes and the people who love him. These characters continue to change his thinking and allow him to grow and love.
