An exciting new project is coming up! A Wax Museum project! This is a large project and will take quite a bit of class time to prepare, but it is a favorite among 3rd graders! The students will be researching a famous person and creating a live “wax museum” to present their information. We will be reading, researching and preparing most requirements during class time, but I want you to be aware of a few things that will need to be prepared at home. Here is an outline of our project-
At School-
- Choose and read a Biography about a famous person
- Take notes and research their early life, later life and why they are important in history
- Create a poster-showcasing research
- Write a short speech from the point of view of that person
- Present to parents and peers (date to be determined-Early June?)
At Home-Requirements that students will need help with
- A costume to match famous person. These do not need to cost money!
- Letters/stickers or additional props to add to their poster (this is optional, as I will have some of these items)
- Memorizing a speech (30 sec-1 min. long)
- More information will come home as we get closer!
These are a few pictures of my students from last year to help get an idea of costumes!
