We were lucky enough to be picked to represent Park Elementary on WZZM for their morning School Salute! A camera man came today to video us and we will appear on the news in the next week or so (details to come when I learn of the exact date). Four other classrooms were picked from Park as well! (Gitler, Hossink, Higgs, and Mutschler) Here are a few pictures from our appearance:)
Homework-We are officially done with homework sheets for the year! The students will still have spelling words this week; as well as reading and flashcards. Math- We are wrapping up our Math Curriculum with a final unit on 2 Step Story Problems. These types of problems can be tricky because they often have extra information or hidden information in them! We moved back into our Math Workshop set up and the students are loving moving between work stations again! *Be sure to have your child continue to practice their flashcards if they have not passed both multiplication and division. I will give a final 5 minute test the last week of school! Wax Museum- We are working so hard on our Biography projects! We will be presenting them on Friday, June 3 at 1:00 during our Wax Museum. The students will be presenting their posters and dressing as their character. These costumes do not need to be store bought or expensive, many items may be found in closets! Please contact me if you need costume help or questions! We had an exciting week learning about Force and Motion! We learned all about gravity, friction, pushes, and pulls, but our favorite lesson involved building our own roller coasters! The students were given a few paper plates, some tape, and some paper cups. The teams had to design and build their own roller coasters that could support a marble traveling down to land in a cup at the bottom.
Wow! What excitement! The class was buzzing around like bees trying out different strategies and testing their designs. What a great day! |
