All About Writing
Writing Workshop is one of my favorite things about teaching 3rd grade! I love to share interesting and exciting stories from my own life to encourage and inspire writing in my students. Here is the outline of our daily schedule during Writing and a little about how each piece makes up the Writing Process.
Shared Writing- The students join at the rug for a mini-lesson covering the writing strategy for the day. This also consists of teacher modeling and sharing of ideas.
Individual Writing Time- The students are working around the room silently on their writing. Students may be at all different parts of the writing process.
Conferring- I meet with the students individually to work on their writing. We also may come up with a plan to continue to work on their writing goals.
Strategy Groups- Small groups of students, working on the same goals, meet together with myself to help one another with their writing pieces.
Share Time at the rug- At the end of Writing Workshop, the class meets at the rug in a circle to share their writing progress.
