We have two short weeks ahead of us with an Early Release day on Friday, along with Monday and Tuesday off due to Mid-Winter Break!
Our book order should be in mid-week and I know many students are excited about our new Family Book Club book. All families are welcome to read the book (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) together at home and invited to our Book Club Meeting/Celebration on March 6. This is a wonderful tale that brings me back to my childhood every time that I read it. I know your family will enjoy it too; as well as our Celebration!
Have a great week!

- Can you share something good that happened last week at school?
- What is your favorite part of the school day?
- Can you name three students in your class and tell me your favorite thing about them as a person?
Curriculum Updates
Writing: We wrapped up drafting our Animal Research books last week and will spend this week editing, revising and producing our final drafts! These are such a labor of love for us! We worked very hard over the course of the last month and are very excited to share our published drafts.
Social Studies: This week we will move into studying the Native Americans who first lived in Michigan, focusing on their communities.
Math: We were tested over time, measurement, graphs, capacity and words problems last week. These tests will come home this week, please look over them with your child. I continue to work with small groups of students on concepts that still remained tricky for the on the test. We are always working towards mastery!
Our next unit is perimeter, area and geometry shapes.
Reading Workshop: Our focus continues to be finding the Main Idea of a text. Main Idea can be defined as the most important point or purpose of the text. This concepts will help with summarizing and retelling skills as well!
MobyMax and Study Island: These are two great learning sites that Park students have access to (Thank you Parents' Club!) We spend time each week extending and practicing our skills in the subjects of Math and Reading on these sites. Computer skills are an essential part of our learning!
